Job Purpose

The Chedi El Gouna Hotel is looking for a Waiter responsible for serving food and beverage to guests during an assigned shift in a courteous, professional manner according to proper service standards as set by Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the restaurant outlet is clean, neat, and tidy.
  • Accurately records, pre-checks, and picks up all food and beverage orders.
  • Serves guests their food and beverage in a prompt, courteous manner as per the standard sequence of service.
  • Sets tables as per outlet standard prior to guests’ arrival.
  • Upsells or promotes all specials advertised in the outlet as well as promoting slow-moving items.
  • Has a thorough understanding and knowledge of all food and beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend food and beverage combinations and upsell alternatives.
  • Responsible for all side duties described in the job task checklist and to complete all side work prior to the opening and closing of the restaurant.
  • Knowledgeable of all ingredients and prices of the food and beverage listed on the menu.
  • Follows the cash handling procedures and processes all guest orders through MICROS before any dish or beverage is served.
  • During low occupancy of the outlet, assists with stocking the work stations and cleaning them, polishing silverware, china and glassware and folding napkins.
  • Attends work on time as scheduled.
  • Follows hotel grooming and dress standard.
  • Acquires a working knowledge of the hotel, in-house facilities, and local information to respond to guest questions in these areas as required.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance. Handles guest inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and reports guest complaints or problems to the Assistant Restaurant Manager if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow-up with guests.
  • Handles all food, beverage, and operating equipment with care, in order to minimize breakage/wastage.
  • Ability to rotate throughout each of the food & beverage outlets.
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Understands that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shifts to other shifts.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health & Safety.
  • Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and rectified immediately.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Hotel’s Employee rules & regulations.
  • Reports for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name tag at all times.
  • Performs any other duties assigned to him/her by management.


  • Minimum of the equivalent of a High School Graduate. Preferably a College Degree in Hotel Management or other business-related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Junior Waiter/Waitress in a 5-star hotel restaurant or 1-year experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a 5-star hotel restaurant.
