Job Purpose

The Chedi El Gouna Hotel is looking for a Receptionist responsible for checking in and checking out guests in a friendly and caring manner according to the Company procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Checks in the arriving guest and checks out the departing guests in a friendly and caring manner according to the Company Hotel procedures and standards.
  • Upon check-in, registers guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible. If needed, assists guests in completing the registration cards. Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel. Verifies the guest’s method of payment and follows established credit-checking procedures or refers cash handling payment to cashiers. Invites bellman to escort guests to the room.
  • Upon check out, processes the guest check-out procedures. Receives payment from guests. Settles the guests' accounts and gives them a copy of the invoice.
  • Handles all front office cashiers’ transactions such as posting charges to guests, taking room payments, and exchanging foreign currency according to the procedures. At the end of the shift, balances their cash float.
  • Answers all guest requests and questions in a friendly and caring manner, whether by telephone or in-person, provides/receives information, and takes appropriate actions or refers the matters to the relevant persons to handle.
  • Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying them of all group check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests.
  • Keeps themselves informed of product and service knowledge as well as the hotel's daily and meeting activities.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of room reservation procedures. and takes reservations and cancellations if required.
  • Maintains the neatness of their working area.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of the equivalent of a High School Graduate.
  • Preferably a College Degree in Hotel Management or other business-related field. 
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service position.
  • Knowledge of cashier operations
  • Knowledge of hotel business operations
  • Fluency in the local language
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in a third language is a plus
  • Proficiency in Fidelio
